PEACE IV PROGRAMME - DERRY

Public Art

Brief: To work with two communities in an interface area of Londonderry to produce an artwork for a new shared community hub.
The community project in Derry which is part of the PEACE IV Programme, the unique initiative by the Northern Ireland Executive, the Irish Government and the European Commission which has been designed to support peace and reconciliation across NI and in particular to foster shared experiences across communities.
The artwork combines imagery of the community in Derry, past and present and combines these with symbolic circular and rainbow forms that represent unity, wholeness, hope and peace.

The artwork is broken up into two partner pieces, one for each community, and when layered together on clear perspex, they create the whole united picture.
